Engineering Department
The Engineering Wing is the main department that plans and implements local infrastructure development activities within the limits of the Gram Panchayat. This department works under the leadership of the Assistant Engineer of the Local Self Government Department (LSGD).
The main objective of this section is to complete the annual plans, road development, building construction, and public works works of the panchayat with the right quality and on time.
Main duties and services:
- Project Planning and Design: Preparation of estimates and plans for various construction works to be carried out using Panchayat Fund and Plan Fund.
- Technical Sanction: Granting necessary technical sanction for approved development works and supervising them.
- Building Permits: Examine the plans of houses and commercial buildings being constructed within the Gram Panchayat limits and recommend permission as per the Kerala Building Regulations (KBR).
- Title Certificate (TC): Once the construction of new buildings is completed, a technical report is issued for their inspection and numbering and occupancy certificate.
- Road and Bridge Development: Ensure maintenance and renovation of public roads, roads, drains and small bridges within the panchayat limits.
- Life Mission / Housing Projects: Inspect the various stages of house construction of beneficiaries of various government housing projects and provide technical certification for allocating funds.
